Mission Statement
Education has been converging on the “here and now”: youngsters to join our local society as quick as possible.
Sprouting societies like the new developing countries seem to be much keener on Divergent Education: Learning in order to open new societal opportunities. China has shown to let education transcend collectivist ideals. Europe is in the midst of questioning if the “new learning” is a feasible concept anyway. This academic event wants to build an integrative map on how to learn between East and West on education at large the coming years.
Education awareness has grown during the recent financial crisis; if any restructuring is available, it is education.
This conference targets the strategic link between China and Western Europe . Its scope goes further than education; Learning is implicit to the way we benefit from the web, innovation and social reorientation. This conference retreat aims to be a top conference for researchers and practitioners in the field of education and technology, society and culture and to encourage their participations in this growing field and go give them access to the network of East and West. We allow the participants to immerse themselves within the community and to interact on one-to-one level with top experts from China and experts to gain deeper insights and clarity.
Outcome
The “ New Silk Route ” consortium invites you to join and get exclusive opportunities for a long series of China-Euro meetings, resulting in joint ventures for learning-work-leisure combinations. An exquisite selection of China-Euro professors have expressed commitment to invest in this network. If you decide to join this coming conference, you will be entitled as one of its early founders.
The final conference day will be spent on defining the second conference in China where the triangle of culture, learning and enterprise are at stake
Authors should submit an original paper in English, with correct grammar and spelling, using the on-line submission procedure. Please check the paper formats The guidelines for paper formatting provided at the conference web site must be strictly used for all submitted papers. The submission format is the same as the camera-ready format.
Each paper should include: abstract brief CV of authors, key-word, reference.
Remarks about the on-line submission procedure:
1. A "double-blind" paper evaluation method will be used. To facilitate that, the authors are kindly requested to produce and provide the paper,
LaTeX/PS/PDF/DOC/DOCX/RTF format are accepted.
2. The web submission procedure automatically sends an acknowledgement, by e-mail, to the contact author.
Paper submission types:
Regular Paper Submission
A regular paper presents a work where the research is completed or almost finished. It does not necessary means that the acceptance is as a full paper. It may be accepted as a "full paper" (30 min. oral presentation) , a "short paper" (20 min. oral presentation) or a "poster".
Position Paper Submission
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topic areas. The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster", i.e. a position paper is not a candidate to acceptance as "full paper".
Camera-ready:
After the reviewing process is completed, the contact author (the author who submits the paper) of each paper will be notified of the result, by e-mail. The authors are required to follow the reviews in order to improve their paper before the camera-ready submission.
All accepted papers will be published in the proceedings, under an ISBN reference, in paper and in CD-ROM support.
All accepted papers will be published in the proceedings, under an ISBN reference, in paper and in CD-ROM support. Full papers will be printed in a separate volume, as a Springer-Verlag book, which will be available at the conference.
A selection of best papers will be published in a special issue of the Springer-Verlag Journal

- Location
Enschede...
Directly on our eastern border lies Enschede, a characteristic, modern and lively university town. Elegant historic buildings in the town and surrounding area are evocative of Enschede’s rich textile past. Some of the town’s most notable monuments are the beautiful town hall, several beautiful churches and a unique synagogue.
At the same time, large-scale urban renewal has given Enschede a new skyline with eye-catching, contemporary architecture. Well worth a visit is the Van Heekplein. This shopping centre gives the town a modern flair and a lively charm.
Nature
In 2003 Enschede was declared the greenest town in the Netherlands. Odd? Not at all; everywhere in the town you can see, feel and hear nature. No matter where you are in Enschede, a beautiful green spot is never far away. The town is surrounded by country estates, woods, brooks, wooded banks and meadows that form Twente’s typical backstage landscape. But that’s not all. Aerial photographs clearly show that Enschede is green, almost right into the heart of town.
The University of Twente
The University of Twente is an entrepreneurial university. It is one of the younger universities in the Netherlands. The education and research cover three areas: technical sciences, social sciences and (clinical) health sciences. A great deal of attention is paid to the transfer of knowledge, know-how and technology to institutes, business and government.
The University of Twente is the only campus university in the Netherlands. Living, working and recreational activities are concentrated in one location: the estate Drienerlo, halfway
between the cities of Enschede and Hengelo.
The many facilities include shops, restaurants and a conference hotel. The cultural heart beats in the Vrijhof, which has among others theatre halls for drama performances. The university terrain offers room to more than 100 buildings. Embellished by a diversity of architecture, it is ideal for cycling or walking.
